Distance Visual Acuity

Studies show that the AcrySof^® ReSTOR^® IOL provides excellent near visual acuity without compromising distance visual acuity. In a recent study, 99% of patients who received the AcrySof^® ReSTOR^® IOL bilaterally and 98% of those who received the monofocal IOL bilaterally (control group) achieved distance visual acuity of 20/40 or better without correction.

Additionally, 88% of patients who received the AcrySof^® ReSTOR^® IOL achieved distance visual acuity of 20/25 or better without contact lenses or glasses, compared to 92% of the monofocal wearers. This indicates that the two lenses were statistically equivalent in distance visual acuity.

Near Visual Acuity

74% of patients receiving the AcrySof^® ReSTOR^® IOL bilaterally achieved near visual acuity of 20/25 or better without correction by contact lenses or glasses, while only 14% of the bilateral monofocal control group achieved this. At this level, patients can read the normal type in a newspaper.

In addition, 85% of the AcrySof^® ReSTOR^® IOL patients achieved functional uncorrected intermediate vision of 20/40 at 60 cm.
